Basically the genre and image I was going for with this digipak cover was sort of "artistic indie pop", artists that also could be related to this are Lana Del Rey & Florence + The Machine. They use videos and covers to showcase how "artistic and individual" they are compared to what is usually in the top 40 music charts.
Why did I do this?
I did this because I will end up doing a digipak properly. I only done the front cover because I was struggling a lot with it, and I ended up getting quite frustrated with it. Looking back on it, I don't really know what look I was going for and I think it's quite obvious!
What did I learn?
I learnt that I need Photoshop tutorials. Luckily, I have been watching Photoshop tutorials on Youtube over the summer and over the first module. I have also been talking to iMedia students who use Photoshop quite frequently. I also learnt I need to know what poses reflect what genres and how the poses reflect how the cover can appeal to which audiences. I feel that I can improve on this, and hopefully it will be reflected by I actually do the digipak cover (front, back and inserts.)

Nice composition on the photo and striking fonts used with appropriate backdrop.
ReplyDeleteBlending of your image with the background could be more interesting and professional if you try working with overlays on your layers. Think carefully about 'branding' your artist however, having a guitar in shot is not conventional for a front cover - more for the inside. Although the Guitar is telling me this is Rock your pose needs to reflect this. Try exploring filters to have more abstract effects for a more convincing and look at examples of album covers.
Nevertheless a solid display of Photoshop skills which you can build on in Mod2. Good effort - Well Done!
agree with sir ^ but
ReplyDeleteonly front cover? task asked you to do back and front, and possibly an insert? it's good, annotated but you didn't say what is this task needed for, how will it help you with your project and what was the point of it?
other than that ^ , low level 4
